Roman Center Table

Roman Neoclassical giltwood center table, circa 1785


Sicilian jasper top bordered by a boldly carved rope-twist moulding.
Pierced frieze decorated on both sides by an Apollo mask flanked by beribboned drapery swags and bucrania at the corners. Four fluted legs with leaf-tip carving and joined by a stretcher mounted with a pierced straw-basket attached with drapery swags.
